My Camcorder HAS ARRIVED :D

Just a quick update, but my camcorder has in fact arrived. I'm going to experiment a bit, but of course the first thing I will be filming is my July Favorites. I'm hard at work for my SAT class, but I hope you are all doing well. I'm going to haul soon. Haha... too bad for me.

Dare to Wear, Hot Coral Lips? Illamasqua Brink Lipstick Swatches + Quick Review

My face has not been so pretty, a result from breakouts and late nights. But whatever, I'm sure you guys don't mind. So any who, I can always brighten up my complexion with a bit of a bright lipstick. Once again, excuse the pimple on the side of the mouth, and also the eye bags. Man, the pimple decided to disappear only after I had taken my swatches. ):

Illamasqua Brink is a orange coral that shows up very bright in real life. Like in my previous post, Brink similar to Obey is meant to be a matte lipstick. When applied without a lip balm it truly is matte, but being matte the lipstick can be quite drying. For this reason, I apply lip balm and the lipstick looks like it has a sheen. Being a matte lipstick, Brink is extremely pigmented and I barely need any. With well moisturized lips, Brink does not sink into my lip lines at all. As a brighter lipstick, I was not surprised that this lipstick lasted quite well on my lips (5-7 hours, without eating). It does leave a slight stain. There is no smell and the packaging is sleek. Downsides to the packaging is that it seems the bullet isn't too strong and the bullet can break from the base or shift around.

Passion for Peach (Kinda Pink...): Illasmaqua Obey Lipstick Swatches and Quick Review

I love peach, it brightens my complexion and gives me a girly glow, I feel so much more alive wearing it. I wear neutral eyes so much, like most girls, and I find that peach blushes and lipsticks look gorgeous paired with a brown eye. Anywho, this series will provide
swatches and reviews (or quick reviews) on peach colored (or with a hint of peach) products I adore.

No matter how hard I tried to get this lipstick to show true in my pictures, I just couldn't. So you're all going to think that this a true milky pale pink, BUT THERE ARE OTHER HINTS IN IT.

YES I HAVE ANOTHER PIMPLE. ;_;

Illamasqua Obey is a milky pale peachy pink with a hint of coral (IN REAL LIFE). This lipstick is marketed as a matte finish lipstick, and yes, this is matte as matte if you apply it to totally bare lips. However, being matte, the lipstick is pretty drying and for that reason I really can wear this lipstick without lip balm. That's the reason why there is a sheen in the swatch. Although on the very inner area of my lips it seems like the lipstick sinks into fine lines, I really don't think that's the case if your lips are exfoliated and moisturized. The upside to this matte lipstick is the amazing pigmentation, one swipe and I have opaque lips. The lipstick does not seem to have a particular smell. The packaging is very sleek, but I must say, many people say that the base is not strong as the lipstick often breaks off. I haven't experienced breaking off, but the lipstick does move and the side of the bullet has been dented by the tube, very unfortunate. Without lip balm, I assume this lipstick will last longer, but with lip balm, I get about 4-5 hours of wear.

Just for Kicks Haul: Furry Friends

Since this is "just for kicks", what I got today isn't makeup. My cell phone fur ball key chain broke of today, luckily I got some new friends. I think I'm going to figure out how to fix my fur ball though, since it serves the purpose of nostalgia. (RIP fur ball pictured in bottom of photo...)

Never too old... I think I should name them.

Video Review: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Foundation (Before and After)

Sad to say, at my young age I do in fact have premature wrinkles: laugh/frown lines and under the eyes. Paranoid, as always, I went to the drugstore and picked up the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Foundation in 190 Nude. However, I must admit, I don't think this will actually get rid of my premature wrinkles. Well, there are some ups and downs to this foundation, watch this video to see my opinions:

Before n' After? I think yes.

Mini Update! New....

After at least a year of research, I picked up a Toshiba Camileo S30 Camcorder! Although I know that there are many mixed reviews on the camcorder, I gave in and bought it because it was at the right price range and has features I want. I may turn out to be disappointed, but I can always return it for something else. One downside to the camcorder is that it doesn't have autofocus, but the camera's with autofocus are too expensive so I was like, what the heck. It does have macro mode though. I'm excited since I'm such stickler for high quality videos, so I can finally do that for you guys.
Sorry for the lack of posts, I've been breaking out like mad and busy with SAT classes so I don't wanna show my face as of yet. I can tell you that I've been trying really hard not to shop...well, I'm going to shop soon (hahahaha, im such a hypocrite).

Thanks for reading my update! Byebye. :D

Just Wondering! Please Give Me Suggestions. :D

Hey everyone, I haven't been blogging consistently because I've been in turmoil. Not extreme turmoil, but I find my blog a bit boring since all I do is swatches, reviews, and hauls. It would be really helpful if any of you could suggest to me what you like to blog about or would like to read about. Of course, I will continue to do the normal stuff I do, but I really want to make this blog more than what I already have. To take it to a different level, you know? So please so tell me, not just on this post, but on any of my blog posts later on whenever you get an idea.

Dare to Wear, Hot Coral Lipstick? MAC Vegas Volt Lipstick Swatches and Quick Review

Sadly the lipstick was a bit too much for my camera to handle, resulting the the muted full face swatch. But hey, the lip and hand swatches are pretty good. Hehheh. MAC Vegas Volt, oh hey, this is summertime in a lipstick.

Left to right: Bare lips for reference, MAC Vegas Volt

MAC Vegas Volt is a true pink coral (since there are orange corals). As the MAC finish suggested, this lipstick has a cream finish, that leaves a subtle sheen. The lipstick is also very pigmented as it is an amplified finish. It glides on smoothly, does not feeling drying, and as far as I can tell, it does not sink into my lip lines. I find that this wears away evenly and also stains my lips a bit. I get about 4 hours of wear with this, probably because the lipstick is so creamy.

This is such a fun color, it's not as loud as a red or an orange, but it still gives a pop. It's perfect for the summertime, and overall, the feeling of the lipstick makes me recommend it. I think this would look great on tanned skinned people.

Hurz a picz wit muh faz.
The lipstick is a bit muted in the pic.

Passion for Peach: MAC Ravishing Cremesheen Lipstick Swatches and Quick Review

I love peach, it brightens my complexion and gives me a girly glow, I feel so much more alive wearing it. I wear neutral eyes so much, like most girls, and I find that peach blushes and lipsticks look gorgeous paired with a brown eye. Anywho, this series will provide swatches and reviews (or quick reviews) on peach colored products I adore.

So I spent some time today running around the house trying to find better lighting than the lighting I have in my room. I just couldn't get my camera to be happy with my room's lighting today, and I do have to admit that the lighting is pretty bad in my room. But I did find a place in my house with good lighting, well at least it's the most true to color I've seen my photos being. However, that's not saying that all my swatches have been "wrong", it's just these photos are the most close to real life. Yeuhhhh...So today's post is on MAC Ravishing Cremesheen Lipstick. :D

Left to right: Bare lips for reference, MAC Ravishing

MAc Ravishing is a cream finish orangey peach that shows up more vibrant in real life, but it really close to a true peach. True to it's Cremesheen name, Ravishing applies smoothly and has nice pigmentation. It's not drying and it doesn't accentuate my line lines of any dryness, but after wearing off, the product may get stuck to dry areas, and that would show up. I like to blend this lipstick a bit on the edges of the lips just because it looks better that way; I just use my fingers. I get about 4 hours or wear with this lipstick.

I think Ravishing looks really similar to Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Cabo Coral (http://valeriestlbm.blogspot.com/2011/07/passion-for-peach-bobbi-brown-cabo_08.html). Ravishing is just a little more peach and pigmented.

I definitely recommend this for someone looking into a good peach lipstick!

Hurrs a pix with ma whole facez. Lol, sorry.

MAC Semi-Precious Mineralized Skinfinishes and Blush Swatches and Quick Review

I should have done these swatches far earlier since some of these products may be sold out already, but whatever. Here are some swatches of MAC's Semi-Precious collection.

MAC Warmth of Coral Mineralized Blush

MAC Semi-Precious Rose Quartz Mineralized Skinfinish
Left to right swatches: center, outer, mixed

MAC Semi-Precious Pearl Mineralized Skinskinfinish
Left to right swatches: center, outer, mixed

Warmth of Coral does not seem to have any coral, instead it's just an orangey peach. It has a matte texture and is very smooth and finely milled. However, it does not last too long on the cheeks as with most mineralized products.
Semi-Precious Rose Quartz is a really pretty rosey pink when mixed. It has more gritty glitters, but it doesn't really bother me. It's gives a rosy glow when applied.
Semi-Precious Pearl is a light bronzy gold when mixed. This has less glitter and more shimmer than Rose Quartz. I think it actually gives a really pretty color applied on the cheeks, kind of like bronzer, but lighter? The plum in the center veining is really pretty.
Both of the mineralize skinfinishes, do not last too long on the cheeks, but it's decent.

Sorry this post seems so rushed, I'm trying to save as many pictures as I can.

Dare to Wear, Bright Orange Lipstick? How to Wear MAC Morange Lipstick Swatches, Tips, and Quick Review

It's rare to see people step outside of their comfort zones and wear a pop of color, especially when it involves makeup. But in my opinion, it is always possible to wear color and make it look good. Along with my love of peach, I just can not ignore orange. And where else would I wear color other than my lips (I love to step out with a pretty lip)? Here's swatches, a quick review, and how I wear an orange lip with MAC Morange Amplified Creme Lipstick.

MAC Morange is a true orange with a neon tone to it. It's creamy and crazy pigmented. My lip lines are pretty apparent, but the lipstick does not bring them out more. I get about 5 or more hours of wear with the lipstick since it stains the lips. In the next swatches, you can see how wearable this bright orange can be, but also how intense. (Sorry for the change in lighting of the pictures!)

So I'm pretty sure the bare lips and full on swatches are self explanatory, but let me explain the second middle swatch. Basically, I swiped the lipstick on my bottom lip about twice and right in the center. Then, after blending by rubbing my lips together, I did some additional blending with my ring finger. The results with a full face photo is...

I think the middle is the most flattering, however, I really enjoyed the full on lips. After the full on swatch, I blotted away most of the excess, applied some lip balm, and blended once again with my finger. But that's how easy it is, and I think the look is so flattering. I kept my eyes simple and totally matte, with a touch of dramatic mascara, and added a light flush of an orange blush on the cheeks.

    Then I started camera-whoring. B)

So, I definitely recommend trying out an ORANGE (haha) lip. It can turn out very flattering, and you can just use the lipstick as a tint. Not matter how pale, how dark, how shy, or how confident you are about your orange lips, you only need to learn how to modify how much you apply and what suits your skin tone. (Darker skin girls look really pretty with orange tones!)

Don't Bite Your Nails: ORLY Rage Swatches and Quick Review

I'm really late on the rose gold- trend, so I though I would keep it simple and just try a polish. ORLY's Rage nail polish has been going around the blogging and Youtubing world as, "the rose-gold polish". My take?

Sincerely, I think that Rage is not really a rose-gold, but more of a rose-silver. Even so, I do like it a lot. ORLY Rage is a mix of pink copper and silver. It has an immense amount of super small shimmer that coats evenly. This polish is incredibly pigmented- with one good coat you can get opaque metallic nails. The brush applies the product perfectly, and I did not have to worry too much about streaking. I think that because of the dense amounts of shimmer, the polish dries very quickly. Rage is very flashy, my fingers are a disco ball.

When I was bored a couple of nights ago, I slapped on some random makeup and cam-whored a bit. Excuse the dark circles, they don't go away. Those two lines from my eyes to the ends of my brows are natural, they don't go away either. (:

Passion for Peach: Bobbi Brown Cabo Coral Pot Rouge in Cabo Coral Swatches and Review

Being the summertime, I went on a mini search for a cream/stain blush. To my luck, the product I chose also can be used on the lips. Let me just say, I'm pretty dang happy. I'm showing you all, Boobi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks in Cabo Coral. What a mouthful.

     Yay, pimples!

Isn't Bobbi Brown Cabo Coral pretty? The swatches turned out more pink than in real life. Cabo Coral is a gorgeous orangey peach, as far as I can tell, there isn't much coral to it. I personally love this color, it looks really good on the lips. There is no shimmer, but because it is a cream product, applied on the cheeks, it leaves a nice sheen. Of course, once powdered, the sheen goes away.
Cabo Coral is very nicely pigmented so don't use too much, and just build up if you need more. The cream is not crazy soft so that you use too much, but it's also not dry. When applying to the cheeks, blend quickly, because once this dries, it probably won't move. I do recommend using a lip balm before applying this to the lips; this will also allow for easier application. I prefer to use my fingers to blend this into my skin as the products really sinks in this way, and it doesn't look cakey.
The last power of this pot rouge is amazing, it lasts all day on my cheeks and about 5-6 hours on my lips. I think it's mostly because the product stains and does not just sit on top of the skin. The arm swatch above would not come off until the next day!
Although the packaging is sleek and very attractive, I don't love it because little dust particles and stuffzz get into the product. WHICH PISSES ME OFF.
Anyways, I definitely recommend this pot rouge. I don't know how the other colors look so I can't say anything about those. Hope this was helpful.

Video? Collective Haul July 7, 2011

Hehheh, I did a video. Previously I explained that I would be doing a video (if I could figure it out, which I did, hence this post) on my collective haul. The time frame that I purchased these items is very long; I think about 3 or 4 months. Also, I say in the video that the money spent on these products may be very, very high, but I actually only spent $50 in all. The reason is that my numerous relatives have given me a huge amount of gift cards. The Sephora lady and the MAC lady were not very happy with me... Anyways, I'll leave the video embedded below, I'm sorry that the quality is not good, but a blog post would have had way too many pictures (can't do that). If you want me to review or swatch any of the items mentioned please do comment and tell me. Also, if you're fine with or want me to make more videos, tell me. (: Pause my blog music before you play the video!

Muh Favs: June 2011 + Swatches

Summerrereretime. Woohoo. I'm well into the summertime, and oh my god, now I'm thinking that junior year is going to start (hardest year in highschool). Unfortunately, a large portion of my summer in a SAT class, but hey, I won't have to get use to going to school everyday when school starts. And my class is pretty fun. I've also had a huge amount of time to shop, and for some reason my relatives (I have like 50) have been giving my so many gift cards which explains the huge collective haul I have coming up. Am I forgetting some Asian holiday? Anyways, good for me, since I seriously did not spend money on most of the stuff I got since summer started. Anywho, I took less pictures for this favorites because I'm running out of photo storage for Blogger, but I'll be sure to explain well. (:

Clockwise starting from the Dove Deodorant and ending with the two products in the middle...

1. Dove Ultimate Sensitive Care Fragrance Free Deodorant is my new favorite deodorant. I've tried other deodorants, but I always got tired of the smell. I like this because although it is fragrance free, I find that it mixes with my natural smell and makes me smell good without being too prominent.
2. (Swatched below) Benefit Sugarbomb Box Powder is a repeat favorite. It's one of my favorite blushes, and when I don't know what to wear, I just grab this. It smells amazing. It gives me a glow. It has peach in it. What else could I ask for?
3. (Swatched below) Benefit Hoola Box Powder  is a repeat favorite as well. I use this strictly for contouring (With my wonderful MAC 109). Hoola's just perfect, I use it everyday under my cheekbones and on my jawline. It has a very natural color and doesn't turn orange on me. It is quite pigmented, so I only use a bit for natural definition.
4. Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Cream Light 4-5 is also a repeat favorite. It's just very easy to use, and it doesn't get cakey, and mattifies. The shade I have is light for me, but since there is barely any coverage it doesn't make me paler, but it does a little brightening. The one in the picture is a backup as I am finishing up the first one. First product I've hit pan on!
5. (Swatched below) Illamasqua Love Powder Blush is a beautiful matte peach blush. Amazing formula, amazing color, amazing packaging. I look healthy wearing this, and it works with my muddy tan to make me look more awake.
6. (Swatched below) MAC Chromographic Liner in NC15/NW20 is one of those flesh-tone liners. Like most people I use it on the water line to brighten my eyes and make them look slightly larger. Nice and creamy, decent last power, and it can be used as on the go concealer!
7. (Swatched below) Sample Lancome Le Crayon Kohl in Black Coffee is a crazy creamy black brown eyeliner. It seriously is like butter and just melts when in contact with something. Very nice pigmentation and it's really good for a smoked out look.
8. (Swatched below) MAC Gotta Dash! Supreme Sheen Lipstick is a must have lipstick to me. If you read this blog, I think you know how much I love this baby. I won't say too much since I have it reviewed here: http://valeriestlbm.blogspot.com/2011/06/passion-for-peach-mac-gotta-dash.html
9. (Swatched below) Eyeshadow Combo! MAC All That Glitters, Rock & Republic Sabotage, MAC Satin Taupe has been a frequently worn eyeshadow combination for me this month. I use All that Glitters on the lid, Satin Taupe in the outer-v and crease and Sabotage right in between the two previous shadows.
10. Sally Hansen Grown Nails Now! is a nail serum that I began using after my nails became weak after so much nail polish. Since using this, my nails have not chipped or broken. They're seriously hard as rocks now, haha. I'm very impressed.
11. Maybelline One by One Mascara is not a gimmick, it really does what the company says it does. Right now this is my favorite and HG mascara. I have it reviewed here alongside the Falsies: http://valeriestlbm.blogspot.com/2011/06/compare-maybelline-falsies-and-one-by.html
Swatches? I think, yes.

Left to right: Illamasqua Lover, Benefit Sugarbomb, Benefit Hoola

Left to right: MAC Gotta Dash!, MAC NC15/NW20, Lancome Black Coffee

Eye Combo, left to right: MAC All That Glitters, R&R Sabotage, MAC Satin Taupe

That's it for my favorites of June. Did you guys have a good July 4th? I spent the day hanging out with my friends, eating, shopping, and eating again with the fam bam. I have more Passion for Peach posts coming. I also may do a video for a huge collective haul that may include things I've featured on this blog. If I can't figure out the video, than I won't do the haul since the haul is way to big. I hope you all had a good month, and let's enjoy July.

Passion for Peach + Don't Bite Your Nails: ORLY First Kiss Swatch and Quick Review

I love peach, it brightens my complexion and gives me a girly glow, I feel so much more alive wearing it. I wear neutral eyes so much, like most girls, and I find that peach blushes and lipsticks look gorgeous paired with a brown eye. Anywho, this series will provide
swatches and reviews (or quick reviews) on peach colored products I adore.

As my search for the perfect peach everything continues, I had to find a nail polish to fit the categories. Unfortunately, the peach polishes that I have found are all very sheer even if the colors are exactly what I'm looking for. Although ORLY's First Kiss is not exception, I'm placing it in my Passion for Peach category (only for the peach products I like), because it dries faster than Zoya Lulu (not in Passion for peach).

My hands are so dry! Isn't it pretty?

ORLY First Kiss is a baby milky pinked peach with a jelly finish. For this swatch I used 2 very think coats. You can still see through to my nails, but the nail polish dries fast enough that I think I could suffer through to a third coat. Although First Kiss is a pale polish, I don't find that it streaks as much because it has the jelly consistency. There was a bit Essie Matte About You Finisher for a more interesting texture. I would recommend this polish for a French Manicure, probably not how I did things. (:

FOTD: I GOT TAN (for me)! and trying some new products.

Today I went to get some lunch with my friend at a Japanese curry restaurant that I've been wanting to try, so I decided to just wear some stuff I've been wanting to try so that I can review. One product I just reviewed and swatched, it's the Cover Girl Eyeshadow Trio in Shimmering Sands, it's the post behind this post. I'll review the other products next. So if you know me, you know I dislike tanning, not because I don't want to be darker, but because then I have to purchase darker foundations and concealers. Practical right? I also just feel that tan skin turns out looking more dirty that bronzy goddess on my skin. I BRING SHAME TO TANNING. ): Basically, I'm avoiding the sun at all costs to avoid get any darker. Also, I purchased today's foundation firstly, because I got darker, and second, for review purposes.

So I'm sure you won't think that I look dirty with the slightly darkened skin, but in real life a lot of my friends have said that I look more tired recently, and I'm convinced it's the change in color. Also I couldn't get good lighting in my room so that's why there are no close up eye pictures, but either ways it was just a really basic neutral look. AND YES THAT IS A PIMPLE ON THE CORNER ON MY MOUTH.

     On my face I used...
Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation Primer
Cover Girl Nature Luxe Foundation in 335 Dune (One of the tested products, maybe I got a shade too dark and it made me look darker? Who am I kidding...)
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer in 2 (under eye concealer)
Missha M Signature Radiance Two Way Pact in #21
Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Cream Light 4-5

     On my cheeks I used...
Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Cabo Coral (one of the tested products)
Benefit Sugar Bomb Box Powder Blush
Benefit Hoola Box Powder Bronzer (to contour)

     On my eyes I used...
UDPP
Cover Girl Trio in Shimmering Sands (lightest color on inner corners and lower lash line, middle color on lids, darkest color on outer v, 1/3 crease, and outer lower lash line)
LORAC Take a Brow Kit (tightline and waterline)
Maybelline One By One Mascara (upper lashes 2 coats, lower lashes 1 coat)

     On my lips I wore...
MAC Shy Girl Lipstick

So yes, reviews and stuff will be coming later. Woohoo! Let me end this post with a bad picture of me.

Cover Girl Shimmering Sands Eyeshadow Trio Swatches and Review

My Walgreen's is currently having a sale for Cover Girl (Buy one get one 50% off), so I picked this eyeshadow trio up. I really did not need this.

Cover Girl Shimmering Sands Eyeshadow Trio is a shimmery palette with a pinked white, a tauped champagne, and a light brown. Honestly, this was a waste of money not because I have way too many eyeshadows in these shades, and honestly, I think there are better eyeshadows in the drugstore (Wet n' Wild). One of the only things I really like about this palette is the texture of the shadows- not to hard, but not so soft that you get fall out. The palette is obviously very nice for neutral/natural looks but it's nothing special. I don't find that the colors have any depth to them. Although I knew these shadows were going to be all shimmery, as suggested by the name, I think it's too much shimmer for this palette; I would have loved to seen the darkest shade be a satin or matte finish eyeshadow. The shimmer as masks the colors, although swatched the colors look different, there is basically no difference on my lids. Other than that, I think all I can say is that I will probably wear all these colors as lid colors and I don't think I will like using this palette one its own (I have a FOTD with this featured which will be in my next few posts). I get about 5-6 hours of wear before the colors on my lid begin to look exactly the same.

If you are looking for good neutral eyeshadow palettes from the drugstore, I highly recommend the Wet n' Wild ones. They are swatched and reviewed here: http://valeriestlbm.blogspot.com/2011/04/wet-n-wild-trio-swatches-and-quick.html
