Passion for Peach: MAC Ever Hip Cremesheen Lipstick Swatch and Quick Review

Added to the Passion for Peach category? I think, yes!

I missed out a while back during whatever collection MAC had out with Ever Hip Lipstick. So this time with the Fashion Flower collection, I just couldn't do that. Originally I was going to get the lipstick online, but man that thing sold out in no time. I freaked and ran out to my nearest MAC counter and luckily they were still in stock. Here are pictures and swatches:

Ever Hip is a pretty peachy coral pink. It has a slightly glossy finish and the lipstick is creamy and easy to apply. It does not dry out my lips, and I get about 3-4 hours of wear. Cremesheen lipsticks supposedly melt easily, so I keep my lipstick out of the sun. Here's what the lipstick looks like with my whole face so you can get a better idea. (:

OOTD 4/30: Casual Tea

I HAVEN'T POSTED IN AT LEAST A WEEK, OMFG. Basically, I had a in-class essay to prepare for, and this time, my teacher decided that we could only sort our evidence, but no outline. That's all I did this week. Oh and other homework. But since I'm finally on my weekend, I thought it should be time to post something.

I'm going to a party today, and we're going to be drinking tea and all that shit. Haha. So the host said we should dress casually, but in a dress. So here's what I'm going in.
I'm not upset, my face just turned out that way! I'm not wearing makeup yet, so yeah. My dress is from Forever 21 and my shoes are from DSW, they're the Madden Girl Kallie Wedges.
I love them, do you guys remember in one of my posts where I said I regretted not picking the shoes up when they had my size? Well, after some reading, I found that the show runs a little large so I went ahead and picked up the size 7. They are a bit small, but not so much that I'm bothered.
Haha, so this was kind of a bad post cause I'm not really wearing anything other than these two things. I put on a couple rings after...

FOTD: Nudey Pinks.

Helloooooo. So this past week I have spent resting and shopping, so hauls will come soon. But I tried out the Makeup Forever HD Foundation today, which I've had in my collection for a couple months now, but felt too "scared" to use it. Anywho, I decided I had to use it or it would be a waste of money. Haha. And I also tried out my new Wet n' Wild trio in Walking on Eggshells. (: So it's pretty simple but hur u goooooo. Oh and no photoshop, so you can see the blemishes under the foundation. Woohoo.

OMG I SHOULD HAVE USED THIS FOUNDATION EARLIER. Two reasons, it has a really pretty finish, and this is my winter shade because I keep forgetting to put on sunscreen so I've gotten a bit dark. Whatever, I'm going to drag this down my neck better!

So what do I have on my face?
Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer in Ivory (wrong shade lolz..)
Makeup Forever HD Foundation in 118 (kinda wrong shade, it could be because of the concealer....OOOO)
     Cheeks?
NARS Blush in Gilda
stila Illuminating Finishing Powder in Gold
     Eyes?
Urban Decay Primer Potion
LORAC Take a Brow Kit in Dark Brown (tightline and outer 1/4 lower lash line)
Wet n' Wild Trio in Walking on Eggshells
Maybelline Define-a-Line in Black Brown (smudged well on upper lash line)
Great Lash Clear Mascara (to do brows)
MAC False Lash Mascara in False Black (upper and lower lashes)
     Lips?
Chapstick (WOOHOO)
MAC Slimshine in Bare

Take note that I applied my foundation with a stippling brush so I didn't expect full coverage at all. I also have a very light concealer under my foundation so that may contribute to the fact that my foundation looks very light. Oh and I need to do my brows, teehee, excuse those worms. Here are some fun"ner" pictures. (:

Wet n' Wild Trio Swatches and Quick Review: Silent Treatment, Walking On Eggshells

I stopped by the drugstore today, and for the first time ever, I saw the Wet n' Wild palette in Walking On Eggshells, and it was the last one. So I had no choice but to pick it up, also picking up Silent Treatment. But hey, there aren't expensive and they are some of the better quality drugstore eyeshadow palettes. Here are some products and swatches:

Walking on Eggshells.
Top to bottom: Brow bone color, crease color, lid color.

Silent Treatment.
Top to bottom: Brow bone color, crease color, lid color.

I'm really impressed by the quality of the shadows, they're creamy and blendable, but I so recommend using a good primer with these because the color will fade and there will be some creasing. Wet n' Wild eye shadows are known to be very soft and can break easily so you want to be careful. They do have a pretty good variety of colors for prices that make me want to buy all their palettes, but I will refrain. Haha. One complaint is that the shimmer colors do turn out a bit too icy on the lid and that makes the color look more white than it actually is. That's all I got! Hopefully this was helpful!

MAC Quite Cute Swatches and Quick Review!

Funny to say, I wanted to make the swatches after I had picked up everything I wanted from the collection. My first haul included Naked and In Synch lip liners and Giggly Mineralized  Blush. On my second trip, I realized that Miss Behave Mineralized Blush was not what I wanted and Candy Yum Yum was sold out... I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THAT LIPSTICK THE FIRST TIME. AUGHHHHH. Anyways I can only swatch what I got originally...

Left to right: Heart, surrounding, mixed

Bare lips for reference.

In Synch Lip Liner

Naked Lip Liner

Top to bottom: Naked Lip liner, In Synch Lip Liner

Well, Giggly Mineralized Blush is a cool baby pink with a bit of plum. It's actually probably only my second pinky blush since I lean towards other colors. It applies sheer, but you can build it up very well. It leaves a subtle sheen on the cheek and it's not glitter or a noticeable shimmer.

Naked Lip Liner is a light flesh tone that is like Myth Lipstick in lip liner form. This will be good for nude lips.

In Synch Lip Liner is a light cool toned baby pink that will be good for nudey pink lips.

So, that was quick! Thanks for reading. Byebye. 8)

What I Think Frames A Face: Defined Eyes

My first and only (until right now) "What I Think Frames A Face", is my most read blog post, so I thought it was about time I made my next post. This time I chose eyes because to me it is one of the most important parts defining a face, or even makeup.

Eyes are such an important feature to human interaction, so to bring out your eyes and draw attention to your face, define your eyes. I think this varies for different eye shapes, so I'll just touch on how I would define: hooded/shallow to no crease(my eyes), more defined crease, very large eyes, small eyes, droopy eyes. I am in no way saying these eye shapes are "unattractive", I am only saying how I would emphasize them!

I will only have demonstration pictures for my hooded/shallow to no crease eyes because...well I only have one pair of eyes...

Hooded/shallow to no crease eyes, which I have don't have a lot of lid space showing when the eye is open. Which is why I don't tend to line my upper lash line because basically all I would see is the liner and no lid (of course it would be fine if your were trying to do that, which I will show later). I also think this eye shape/my eyes tend to look tired, and to add to that I have horrible under eye circles. To define this eye shape, I would tight line, highlight inner corners, liner waterline with white or flesh-tone liner, and line only the out lower lash line. Here is a demonstration (in pictures) on my eyes, captions will describe!

No eye makeup.

Place a liner or shadow on the tight line where the arrows point. This will create the illusion of darker lashes without being obvious. Even though it is discreet, I feel a black shadow or liner is a bit too harsh, I prefer a dark brown. I used a mixture of the black and brown powders from my LORAC Take a Brow Kit in Dark Brown.

After tight lining.

Apply a shadow lighter than your skin tone on the inner corner of your eyes or where the arrows are pointing. This will bring light to your eyes and awaken your face, it may even make your eyes seem larger. I used MAC Eyeshadow in Dazzlelight.

After highlighting inner corners.

Line your waterline with a white or flesh tone liner. This will make your eyes seem larger and also brighten them. A flesh tone liner will seem less harsh and more natural. I used MAC Kohl Liner in NW15/NC20.

After lining waterline with a white or flesh tone liner.

Smudge shadow you used before on the outer third of your lower lash line. Lining only the outer corner will make your eyes seem larger keeping your inner corner bright. Depending on how you shape the liner, you will have a different effect. I made the outer part thicker and slowly faded it in which gave me a slight doe eye effect. If you want to lift your eye, I would encourage you to bring the shadow up a little more past the outer corner and flick it out upwards.

After smudging shadow on the outer corner. See the effect?

Now for a little extra, you will see how lining my upper lash line basically covers my lid when my eye is opened:

Open eye picture after lining with brown gel liner. I used Sephora Smoky Cream Liner in Cafe.

Closed eye picture of after lining upper lash line.

Finished defining! Wahlah!

And of course, my beloved mascara step that will open up the eyes and awaken the face. Also will add a girly touch. I used Lancome Definicils Precious Cells Mascara.

Before:

After:

I think I look much more confident and "dressed" after this. It's very simple in reality.

Now for the next eye shapes I don't really have a way to show you with pictures, so please bear with me and read along!

For a more defined crease, do all the same steps as above. Then I would take flesh tone eyeshadow that is a couple shades darker than your skin color and run it through the eye hallow. You could use a matte bronzer.
For very large eyes, it depends if you like your eyes to look very large or you want to slightly make them smaller but also intensify them. If you want to keep your eyes large, so the exact same steps as above, I would smudge the eyeshadow on lower lash line further into the inner corner, maybe inner 2/3? If you want to make your eyes slightly smaller and intensify them, I would line the whole eye. This means, tight line, line the upper lash liner, line the whole water line, and line the whole lower lash liner. I would also take out the flesh tone liner on the water line and the highlighting in the inner corner.
For small eyes, once again if you love your small eyes, do some regular defining. If you prefer for your eyes to look larger, then highlighting is the key. I would use a shimmery shadow on the inner corner. Light eye shadows on the lid will also keep the eyes bright.
For droopy eyes, what I would do is create a lift. No plastic surgery or botox! Just some liner. Just go with winged cat liner, and make the angle of the wing higher. The higher it is, the more of a lift. If you want to keep the liner as discreet as possible, then keep the line close to the lash line and the wing short.

So that's about it, if you have any more questions please leave a comment and check back to see my reply! Of course, it will be my best judgement!

A defined pair of eyes are strong, bright and confident! And let me end with how I dress up a simple defined eye.

A bright lip! Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Fuchsia (liking it quite a bit)

AlertAlertALERT: HauteLook Lulu Bag Sale (No Longer Available)

THIS SALE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

OMGOMG, first of all, I am not affiliated with these companies, I'm not even good enough to be, but omg I just placed an order in on Haute Look for two bags from Lulu. I've never heard of Lulu, and I don't usually place orders on Haute Look because although the things are at a huge discount, they're still really expensive for me. But this time I could not resist because the prices were so amazing! This is what I ordered, when I receive the bags (5/05-5/11) I'll take pictures and maybe review even if the sale is no longer available. Please keep reading to see how much I saved!

It took effort to get these pictures from Haute Look, had to do some random "inspect element" stuff...

Lulu Turn-Lock Skin Tote (Regular leopard print, also available in grey, red, and blue leopard print)
12"W x 10"H x 2"D

Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Soft Rose Swatch and Review

Besides Soft Rose, I have two more of the Revlon Colorburst Lipsticks in Soft Nude (featured in some FOTDs), and Fuchsia (featured in a bright lipstick post). So when I review the lipsticks, I will be referring to my overall impression of the lipsticks. First of all, here are pictures and a swatches of Soft Rose.

Hand swatch!

Bare lips for reference.

My lip swatch shows Soft Rose to be a little more toned down compared to what it is in real life. I think the hand swatch is much more accurate. It's a wearable pinky rose color, that is darker than my bare lip color. I think it's a pretty nice everyday color that will look great with many different eye looks.

Fuchsia (totally different in pic compared to real life), Soft Rose, Soft Nude

The pigmentation and color of the colors I have tried range, but there isn't a huge difference. Soft Nude is a peachy nude that I think is the lightest and sheerest of the three, but I don't mean that it is sheer, just compared to the other two I have. Soft Rose (I already described the color above) is nicely pigmented and is in between the other two in terms of pigmentation. Fuchsia is a bright...well, fuchsia, that has the best pigmentation of the three. These three that I have are all a semi-matte texture.

The application/comfort between these three lipsticks is quite similar. They glide on well, and depending on which lipstick, you'll need to add a different amount of layers. I do find that Soft Nude tends to show my lip lines as do most nudes. These lipsticks do feel a bit drying after a while.

These lipsticks wear for quite a short time. I get about 3-4 hours if I don't eat, and by the end of the couple of hours my lips feel dry. However, I don't feel that it is a huge problem.

Overall, I'm am pretty satisfied with these lipsticks. Soft Nude is the easiest nude that I have to wear because it does not wash my out and I have the option to build up the color (it's one of my most worn lipsticks at the moment). Soft Rose is also a nice wearable color that will be perfect for those who want a clean, polished look. Fuchsia is most of an "out there" color that I will love during this season when I want to simplify my makeup and have my lips stand out (color blocking idea!). I think the colors I have make up for the fact that these lipsticks are a touch drying, I'll definitely be looking into more of these if my Walgreens doesn't keep running out of the colors.

Thanks for reading, hope this was helpful. Byebye. @_@
