Passion for Peach: Lancome Color Fever Lipgloss in Peach Paradise Swatches and Review

I love peach, it brightens my complexion and gives me a girly glow, I feel so much more alive wearing it. I wear neutral eyes so much, like most girls, and I find that peach blushes and lipsticks look gorgeous paired with a brown eye. Anywho, this series will provide swatches and reviews (or quick reviews) on peach colored products I adore.

Of course one of the things I just had to get from Lancome this summer is the Color Fever Gloss in Peach Paradise for the Lancome Summer 2011 collection. I can't say, it's exactly what I hoped for, but I'm not upset either.

Top swatch is more in the natural lighting.

     YES, that is a huge size pimple next to my mouth. ): Worst place to have a pimple ;_;

Lancome Peach Paradise Color Fever Lipgloss is a peachy pink with a little bit of glitter hiding inside of the gloss. On my lips it transfers more like a baby pink, also please look at my full face photo for a better look at the color; the lip swatch does not do the gloss justice. Lancome products come with a pleasant floral/rose scent and this holds true for the lipgloss. The gloss is creamy and smooth although I find it a bit heavy; even so, the gloss is not sticky. It is a bit sheer, and to get that perfect peach lip, I would have to layer this gloss over a peach lipstick. I get about 3-4 hours of wear with this, and when it wears off, the glitter is left behind (not a good thing). I think this is nice, but there are definitely prettier and better peach glosses out there.

Lastly, since I've come so close to my blogger photo storage limit, are you guys okay with some videos? I'm still contemplating how I should deal with this issue.

I woke up a couple mornings ago to this...

Compare&Contrast: Maybelline Falsies and One by One Mascara Swatches and Review

Promised, a long time ago, is my review of the Maybelline mascaras I hauled a while back (One By One to come next), so here is my review and comparison of the Falsies and the One by One. I know you've all probably seen a bagillion reviews on these mascaras, but I figured that mascaras work differently on everyone, so it never hurts to see another view. I'll just first say I am pretty happy with these mascaras, and quite frankly amazed (with one of them). Both of these are in the waterproof formula.

Maybelline the Falsies Swatches: Lemme just say, my bottom lashes on this side just don't take mascara well.

Maybelline One by One Swatches: OMG, I don't know how the lighting changed so dramatically!

Let me make clear once again that the lower lashes that the Falsies was swatched on never works well with mascara, even if I had used the One by One mascara it wouldn't have made a difference.
I have moderate to short length lashes that are pretty sparse and are weak/fall out often; they also stay straight down. So what I look for in my mascaras is most importantly, it holds my curl and lengthens; volumizing is always a plus. Basically, I want fluttery, light looking lashes, but I also want to build up and have dramatic lashes without looking spidery.
I'm going to outright say that I prefer the One by One mascara, it just does everything I want it to do. It's kind of sad, because not even my expensive mascaras do what this can do, so I paid for all that stuff for nothing because I found a wonderful drugstore one.
Starting off with similarities, both mascaras have the same "wetness", bad mascara smell that I continue to whiff throughout the day (this is a downside), and extreme waterproof-ness which is hard to remove (stays all day, but this is a downside for me because the removal of the mascara includes the removal of my lashes). Those are basically the only downsides to the mascaras to me. Now although I just said the waterproof-ness can be a negative, it is also a positive, because both of these mascaras hold my curl for the whole day. I always think that these mascaras work better after a couple uses, because I didn't care for them for the first 4-5 uses. Also, both, no all, mascaras smudge on my lower lash line, I have not found on that does not.
     Now differences...
Obviously the wands are different; the One by One being that sorta of soft rubbery plastic kind and the Falsies being a two length fiber wand. I think the One by One wand works better for separation, and the Falsies wand for volumizing and thickening.
In terms of the overall look, I feel that the One by One is far superior to the Falsies because it not only lengthens but it also separates every single lash which in turn makes me look like I have more lashes/volumizes. One by One fans out all of my lashes for a clean defined look, but I can still build up for nice dramatic lashes.
I think because One by One impressed me so much, I was a disappointed in the Falsies. First of all because I wasn't expecting much from the One by One, so having such high expectations for the Falsies from all the reviews, I was expecting ten times more from the Falsies. Instead, for me, the Falsies didn't do better  than the One by One. It's just too normal...and I even experience a bit of clumping because my lashes are so thin.
So, in conclusion, if the Falsies did not work for you or you haven't not given the One by One the time of day, go try Maybelline One by One. I was pleasantly surprised, and gosh... One by One is kind of becoming my everyday mascara/HG, and that's big since I seriously change mascara everyday. I did try Falsies over One by One and I got even better lashes.

Passion for Peach: Wet n' Wild Penny Single Eyeshadow Swatches and Review + tinyupdate

Although peaches, pinks, and reds are a bit hard to pull off on the eyes, I couldn't do this series without a peach eye product. I find that with peach, pink and red eyeshadow you just need to know how much to use. In my eyes, more is better, because it becomes more evident that you are purposefully using a peach eyeshadow. So anywho, the Wet n' Wild Single Eyeshadow in Penny is readily available in your near by drugstore and I got mine for $1, but I think they go for about $2 usually.

Wet n' Wild's Penny Eyeshadow is a golden red peach. It's a metallic shadow which is why in different angles and lighting you will see more gold, red, or peach. For this reason, if you only wear this shadow on your eyes, it will look like you have multiple shadows. The eyeshadow has a wonderful texture and pigmentation. It's the type that does not get so soft that you waste product and get fallout, and at the same time you have very nice pigmentation. I like to wear this shadow all over the lid, a little past my crease, and with a matte brown shadow in the outer corner and blended into the crease. I feel that I can't get a good 6-7 hours of wear before the color fades a bit, but that doesn't totally matter to me. Also, this kind of looks like MAC Rubenesque in powder form except much more red/peach, I'll do a comparison post later on with Rubenesque and this other cream shadow from a Revlon quad.

OMG, guys! I reached the Picasa Web Album storage limit? I have the option of either purchasing 20GB of memory for $5 per year, but I wanted to know... if I forget to pay for the next year, will it delete all the photos I posted during the year? Are there any suggestions you guys have like a different blog format? Have you guys paid for more memory and what is your experience? I'm happy and kinda sad at the same time, since I have to pay now but this goes to show how in depth I try to my my blog and photos. I have I think two more posts can go up before I must pay. What do you guys think about me doing some videos?

Compare&Contrast: China Glaze For Audrey and ORLY Gumdrop Nail Polish Swatches and Reviews

Recently, I visited Sally's Beauty Supply, and as I was picking out some polishes, I noticed two polishes that looked very similar. I had already planned to pick up China Glaze For Audrey because it is raved about so often, but when I saw ORLY's Bumdrop, I remembered that these have been compared often. I wanted to see for myself, and for the sake of this blog, and plus ORLY's is only 4 something at Sally's right now so I was like what the heck?

From left to right: Two coats Gumdrop (yeah I got a fiber under it on accident), one coat Gumdrop, one coat For Audrey, two coats For Audrey

From left to right: Two coats Gumdrop (yeah I got a fiber under it on accident), one coat Gumdrop, one coat For Audrey, two coats For Audrey

Although, not too evident in the swatches, in terms of color there are very subtle differences to China Glaze For Audrey and ORLY Gumdrop. For Audrey leans more blue while Gumdrop has more green. It's very subtle, so I wouldn't be surprised if a person could not tell the difference. Gumdrop is also a touch bit lighter than For Audrey.
The biggest difference between these polishes are the opacity and the application. Both have relatively similar formulas, not too liquidy and not too thick. However, Gumdrop is much more opaque in the first coat as you can see and it does not streak like For Audrey. Of course, For Audrey even out by the second coat, but I would much rather you one coat rather than two. Not only do you get to use less of the polish, but you also get .1 floz more with ORLY than most polish brands like OPI, China Glaze, and Zoya.
So overall, I think it's obvious that I prefer ORLY Gumdrop over China Glaze For Audrey. I think because they are so similar, you could definitely get away with buying only one.

Don't Bite Your Nails: OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Stranger's Tide Swatches and Review

Although minty greens have been a huge trend this year, I just could not justify purchasing one because the color just makes me look muddy/dirty. However, when I started seeing swatches come out for the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean collection, Stranger's Tide just caught my eye.

Guess who's happy? The color in the swatch is a bit more vibrant than the color actually is, this is two layers. Stranger's Tide is a pale muted sea foam green that is cool-neutral and as far as I'm concerned there is no blue in it. It's a little darker than it looks from the bottle. The polish applies a bit streaky in the first coat, which I find to happen with most pale polishes, but it does even out well in the second coat. Either ways, your top coat should fix any problems. Although the polish streaks a bit, the formulation is pretty different than other pale polishes as it is not thick and goopy, but rather liquidy. I definitely prefer this because it is less chance for error. The polish dries well, so it's the first time in a couple weeks that I haven't had to deal with those nasty bubbles. It also kind of plays with two trends, minty green polish and also nudes.
Overall, I'm really happy that I've found a green polish that suits me and doesn't look like it's time for Christmas. I think this will be a favorite for the fall as well. (:

Passion for Peach: MAC Gotta Dash! Supreme Sheen Lipstick Swatch and Review

This Summer season, many makeup brands, have released new lines of sheer lipsticks. Although, sheer lipsticks tend to be moisturizing, I don't find that the color payoff of these lipsticks are up to par with what I want. After reading some posts on the MAC Supreme Sheen Lipsticks, I was excited to pick up one because supposedly they are not as sheer as other sheer lipsticks. I'm very glad that I did so, and of course, I went with a peach color.

MAC Gotta Dash! Supreme Sheen Lipstick is a slightly milky warm peachy pink with a hint of coral (I find that a lot of peaches come hand in hand with pinks). This is a gorgeous lipstick that glides on well, feels moisturizing, and light, but still has good color payoff. Surprisingly, I find this more opaque than some of MAC's Lustre lipsticks. The lipstick, as the name suggests, gives a sheen on your lips. I like this because I don't love to apply gloss on top of my lipsticks, so I can still get a slightly glossy effect without worrying about my hair sticking to my lips. The lipstick glides on smoothly and the color applies evenly. To get a more natural affect, I dab the very sides of my lips to blend away harsh lines. Because this is a sheerer lipstick, the last time is around 3-4 hours without eating. I don't mind too much though, and I'm definitely going to pick up one or two more of these lipsticks.

Passion for Peach: LORAC Exposed Baked Matte Satin Blush Swatches and Review

I've decided to start a series on my blog, and confess my huge love affair with peach makeup. I love peach, it brightens my complexion and gives me a girly glow, I feel so much more alive wearing it. I wear neutral eyes so much, like most girls, and I find that peach blushes and lipsticks look gorgeous paired with a brown eye. Anywho, this series will provide swatches and reviews (or quick reviews). First of all, I have added a two previous posts to this category, here are the links:

MAC Ever Hip Lipstick- http://valeriestlbm.blogspot.com/2011/04/swatch-mac-ever-hip-cremesheen-lipstick.html
YSL Rouge Volupte #13 and #30- http://valeriestlbm.blogspot.com/2011/06/ysl-rouge-volupte-lipstick-swatch-and.html

Let's get on with today's product, the LORAC Baked Matte Satin Blush in Exposed. This blush was one of my first blushes in my entire collection, back when I had a mini obsession with baked products (I find the shape and look of baked products so fun!).

LORAC Exposed Baked Matte Satin Blush is a shimmery peached-pink, that shows up more peach on my cheeks than the swatch. Although it is shimmery, it does not transfer so much on the cheek and instead gives my skin a healthy glowly sheen. Seriously, this is so natural. When I use this blush, I don't really need a highlighter. For my skin, I don't find that the shimmer accentuates my pores or contributes to my combination skin that leans oily in the summer time. This blush is not hard or soft, rather directly in between; because of this, the blush is hard to over do. At least you would have to try really hard. This type of product is similar to the MAC Mineralized products, but LORAC product is less soft, so fall out is less likely.

Last thing, I really appreciate the packaging because it is very study and clean. I'm a sucker for cute, sleek, and elegant packaging, but the number one priority is that it can hold up and last.

Gorgeous on the cheeks! If you like a good peachy cheek, try this blush out. (:

FOTD + My Asian Spazzing: Summer Smokes~

Hello, everyone! I actually didn't wear this makeup out, but instead applied it when I got home from SAT classes because I was bored. I wanted to use some products that I haven't used, although I've had them for such a long time. (:

So, on my face and cheeks I used...
Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer in Medium
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer in 2
Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Cream Light 4-5
LORAC Baked Matte Satin Blush in Exposed

     On my eyes, I used...
(My priming method from my eye priming for oil lids post)
Lancome Le Crayon Kohl in Black Coffee (as a base, from lash line half way up lid)
NARS Cordura Eyeshadoe Duo (lighter half on the lid and lower lash line, dark half in outer v and crease and outer lower lash line)
Lancome Nior Artliner
Urban Decay Zero 24/7 Liner (tightliner and fill in gaps between my lashes)
Maybelline One By One Mascara (one coat on top lashes)
L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara (top and bottom lashes)

On my lips I am wearing,
MAC Shy Girl Lipstick
NARS Lipgloss in Striptease

So that's today's face. Random, but I watched a really sad movie yesterday called, "I Give My First Love To You". It's a Japanese movie, that its about a boy with heart disease, his life expectancy is 20 years old, and his childhood sweetheart. I don't want to spoil the movie for any of you who haven't watched the movie and want to so I won't go further. It's a very generic story, but seriously so cute. The lead actors are Okada Masaki, the guy with heart disease, and Inoue Mao, the childhood sweetheart. I bawled my eyes out late last night, and woke up with reallly puffy eyes. Haha, sucks for me.

Too cute and sad! I also started watching a drama called "Otomen" which I think is based off a manga? It stars Okada Masaki again. It's really cute and kinda funny, so far.

Haha, I just spewed my Asianess all over this blog. I don't usually, watch dramas, and I don't think I've ever finished a series because they somehow get really boring to be, but just wanted to do some sharing. (:

Don't Bite Your Nails: Essie Braziliant Swatch and Review

I finally did something summer-like and went swimming with my friends. To celebrate/prepare, I put on some nail polish that kinda coordinated with my swim top. I chose Essie Braziliant from the Braziliant collection, and mhmm, I love it.

First of all, my swimsuit, was purchased from Old Navy. If you wanted to know. The swatch is only one coat of Essie Braziliant, with OPI Start to Finish as my base and top coat.
Essie's Braziliant is a bright emergency orange with a pink duo-chrome. I was happily surprised with this polish, since I haven't had the greatest experiences with Essie polishes. First of all, I don't love the size of the Essie polish brush, it's just too small in my opinion. Second of all, the Essie polishes that I have tried are basically all either sheer, streaky, thick, or take forever to dry. That being said, I was thoroughly surprised with Braziliant because it was opaque in one coat, and it applied relatively smoothly. Although, if I was not careful, I could mess the polish up and get weird streaking. In one good coat, my nails were completely opaque, however, I will try the polish with two coats later on because I don't think the pink duo-chrome transferred well and it may be because I did not apply two coats. Other than that, I'm pretty much very happy with this polish.

Don't Bite Your Nails: Zoya Lulu Swatch and Review

I wanted to go for a pastel this week and so I decided to apply Zoya's Lulu. Little did I know, the polish is sooooo sheer I had to apply a three coats and that still did not give me opaque nails. Even more so, because of the number of coats, the polish did not dry fast at all and so I messed up a nail showering, got really pissed, and removed everything!

Zoya's Lulu is a very sheer milky peach. If it were not so sheer I think I would down right adore this polish. It applies well and does not streak like other light polishes. However, because it is so sheer, I had to apply three heavy coats. These coats did not dry completely for more than two hours, and caused bubbles on the surface of the polish. I ended up ruining the polish and completely removing everything. On Zoya's site this is rated a 3 for sheerness, 1 being sheer and 5 being opaque. I think this is no more than a 2. Once I get some quick drying drops, I'll try this polish again. It's such a pity since the color is so cute.

EOTD on Someone Else: Pinky Taupe.

My friend slept over last night, so I wanted to do her makeup this morning and she let me. (: I did a simple look, with no face makeup because I don't have her shade of foundation. This was for fun, not to be like "OMG MAKEUP ARTIST". Yeah. Haha.

So, since all I did was her eyes, that's all I can tell you:
Original UDPP
MAC Naked Lunch (inner corner)
MAC All That Glitters (lid)
MAC Satin Taupe (outer corner, crease)
Rock & Republic Veil (browbone highlight)
Sephora Smoky Cream Liner in Cafe (upper lash line)
Maybelline Define-a-Line in Brown Black (tightline)
Lancome Le Crayon Eye Kohl (outer 1/3 of waterline)
Maybelline Falsies Mascara (upper and bottom lashes)

Also on her lips, I just used some Buxom Big & Healthy Lipstick in Amsterdam and a bit of a clear gloss. (:

That's about it, here's a picture she took of my babylovekins, Abby. Haha.
